Staying On Top of Workload Change

Most people have jobs where their workload changes, sometimes without much notice or predictability. Projects staffed with teams face the same challenge; the people doing the work had an initial vision and work direction, and then their leaders realized that something somewhat different was needed, so the vision and work direction were updated accordingly. When this happens, individuals and teams alike need a robust and reliable system for staying on top of changes and making sure they’re doing the right work at any given time. Typically, people and teams are balancing several work items in parallel, so along with working in line with the latest direction, workers need to be able to effectively prioritize work items to deliver the most urgent, highest value outputs soonest.
